...the crazy, exciting wrestling promotion, created and run by Sam Knee, founder of the controversial and outrageous Devil's Playboys, here to make British wrestling rock.
Although a company of humble beginnings, it has grown into an energetic, fun and "gutsy" product with an almost cult-like following of local fans. The first ever show was held in March 2005, at The Norman Booth Recreation Centre, Harlow, Essex. The show was aptly titled "Living On A Prayer" since the crowd amounted to just 27 people!!!!!!! The company really was living on a prayer.
In the true nature of HEW, Sam Knee did not quit and show 2 was booked with a change of venue to The Takeley Silver Jubilee Hall.

Show 3 brought the debut of Brett Meadows and Zak Zodiac who both went on to become regulars on RQW’s TV show and are well travelled throughout Europe, helping to push the company’s profile ever further along with the likes of the legendary "Rowdy" Ricky Knight - one of the meanest men in British wrestling history, Sweet Saraya - the first lady of British wrestling, Zebra Kid - current WAW World Champion and former FWA All-England Champion amongst others.
HEW has now hosted some notable events such as the WAW World Heavyweight championship match, with Norway’s Erik Isaksen vs Norwich’s own Zebra Kid which culminated in some outrageous footage (available for viewing on YouTube).
Like we have said HEW is a crazy but family friendly company and likes to smash the mould and mix it up, pushing the boundaries adding some alternative bookings to the mix, even boxers are on the shortlist! One such booking saw HEW owner, Sam Knee, enter the ring against Earl ‘The Wild Thing’ Ling, a recognised professional boxer, from Norwich. On another occasion we saw Sweet Saraya, the most successful British female wrestler, square up to a man in a one-on-one street fight.
The company invests in young talent as it strives to produce shows that deliver something extra, with the recent addition of its in-house band OCTORANG, an awesome young band from Essex, here to add some extra rock to our shows.
The promotion continues to go from strength to strength and now boasts a healthy roster with members such as Martin Stone, Zebra Kid, Sam Knee, Brett Meadows, Britani Knight, Erik Isaksen, Bjorn Sem, Danny Blaze, Aron Frost, Zak Zodiac, Ricky Knight, Sweet Saraya and many more. With European links growing stronger, The Devil’s Playboys feud with the NWF’s Bjorn Sem, recently clashing with the Heavyweight champion in his home country, Norway. Having already brought in such stars as ex-WWE wrestlers Doug Basham, Colt Cabana and other well known wrestlers like Team Noah (Atsushi Aioki & Makato Hashi), the company aims to bring in evermore famous faces to entertain and thrill its fans.
