Stew's Review

Ah good - the results are there already, so I need only worry about adding a few thoughts.

1. Judas has worked on his intensity. Great job from him. Keifer was inducted into the Devils Playboys as their "First Official Trainee" (as it said on the front of the shirt). Unfortunately, it also said "STRAWB" on the back laugh.gif . Very fun opener, and in retrospect was one of the better matches of the night as it told a story, each character was believable, and the finish was innovative. Judas laid out Knowles, then chokeslammed Alex Young *onto* Knowles. Unfortunately for the monster, the referee counted Young as pinning Keifer, and counted the three. Nice.

2. The tag match was fun, but went approximately seven hours too long. I've no idea how long it went, but whatever it was, it should've been halved. Quintain and Fusion are both excellent, and London Inc are steadily improving. One thing they are already very good at is antagonising ringsiders. One particular older fan got *mouthfuls* of abuse from the Londoners (which was fair enough as she was giving it back too). Ananya in particular has a way with words. If anything, it took away from the action in the ring though, which was starting to drag. The finish, with Fusion trying to lift both Jet and DKJ on his shoulders simultaneously was insane.

3. Contrary to Britfan above, I thought that Faith Lehaine looked quite out of her depth against Britani - even looking clumsy and missing a clothesline. Britani worked hard to keep it all together, and I will certainly agree with Britfan that Britani is an awesome villain. You know, Jetta gets regularly touted as the top female talent in Britain most of the time, and for the last couple of years, that's been a fair assessment - but the more Britani performs as a heel, the more she's starting to give Jetta a real run for her money. Anyway, suffice to say I was a bit disappointed. This is getting rematched in triple threat format (with the addition of Sweet Saraya) on the HEW return to Towerlands Park on November 13th - so we'll see how that goes.

4. Phil Bedwell and Danny Blaze convinced me that the two have a better match in them. Their match was fine, and actually was the match of the night when I think about it - but I really got the impression that I'd like to see these two do a proper feud. Blaze won via Shiranui.

5. The main event was a tag match with The Devil's Playboys vs The O'Rooneys, as noted. Now, this was never going to be a technical masterpiece (and neither it was), but it was a case where the entertainment quotient was high enough to overcome any in-ring deficiencies. A lot of the entertainment came from Britani's constant interference and crowd baiting also. Mick O'Rooney taking an Essex Bomb, by the way... HOLY COW.

The big announcement on the show was the debut of a new Commissioner to counteract Sam Knee. The story is that Sam was the majority shareholder in HEW, and as such had complete power - however, the other two shareholders *both* sold their stock to the Commissioner, meaning that now *she* is the law in HEW. The Commissioner in question turned out to be former Devil's Playgirl Kharisma - under the name of Commissioner Cox. It was Cox who apparently signed Faith Lehaine and The O'Rooneys, and her who made the announcement of the return to Towerlands and the triple threat match for the HEW Womens Title.

On tap for next month's show - October 24th - is the oft-teased mixed tag with Brett Meadows & Britani Knight vs Zebra Kid & Sweet Saraya.
